Business and Professional Women as a part of the International Federation Business and Professional Women International is a voluntary nongovernmental organization which dedicated its activity to endorse the development and success of business and professional Czech women, and to help them reach their economical independence.
The main activities of the organization consist of networking, personal development programs, business lunches, thematic dinner meetings, conferences, projects supporting women to substain themselves economically and also activities that collaborate with other non profit organizations.
One of the aims of the organization is to raise awareness of differences in incomes between men and women. In the Czech Republic, the difference in income adds up to 22.1 %.
Business and Professional Women Prague organization therefore dedicated the last few years to the project called Equal Pay Day (see more on www.equalpayday.cz).
Equal Pay Day is the biggest annual Event of Business and Professional Women and traditionaly takes place in the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague, the biggest congress space in Czech Republic. Every year it presents the companies CSR politics, diversity and equal pay opportunities. The program supports women re-enter the workplace or start their business & overcome their limitation.
The professionals in Equal Pay area presented hard data about the situation in the Czech Republic.
More than 2000 registrators attend the speed mentoring (lectures) of respected business and well-known women, as well as networking and sharing the experience with other participants of the conference.
Business and Professional Women also organizes small events every month, among them:
- seminars and workshops
- workshops hosted by Czech politicians or business women and men
- one to one mentoring
- activities to start up and advance women´s businesses or profession
- activities to develop multicultural friendships
Furthermore the organization tries to address the topics of financial literacy, communication skills and health.
The organization has Young BPW club which consists of young women – mainly students, who do the best to prepare themselves to enter the workforce or to start a new business.
